Transition

Welcome to University Academy Holbeach

We look forward to welcoming your child to University Academy Holbeach. We are very proud to serve Holbeach and the surrounding villages and will support your child in being part of our community.
Transition is a very important part of supporting your child in preparing for their journey with us. As a large secondary school, it is important that we work together to enable your child to feel confident when they join us in September as a Year 7 pupil. A key part of this is our dedicated two days for Year 6 transition in the summer term.
Transition is overseen by our dedicated Vice Principal, Mrs Lamb who is supported by a team of staff including a Head of Year and two Assistant Heads of Year.
While moving to a larger setting can be a little daunting there are so many opportunities for your child to enjoy, enabling them to develop and grow as independent and confident learners. You can read more about our enrichment activities in our newsletters on the website.
Sheila Paige
Principal
We are pleased to welcome the families of the Year 6 pupils who are about to make the transition from Year 6 to Year 7 in September 2026; we are really looking forward to working with you.
Should you need further guidance you can always contact the office directly at enquiries@uah.org.uk. However, we hope that this page is a useful starting point for most of your queries.
We understand the challenges that the transition from primary to secondary school can bring and believe that a strong start to secondary school is essential for every child.
Due to its popularity, the academy has over 30 feeder schools that we work closely with to ensure transition is as smooth as possible and fully support the pupils move up. As part of this, our process will typically include:
Primary School Visits
These are an essential part of our process. Pupils at all of our feeders are all visited at their own school by a member of University Academy Holbeach staff. This gives the opportunity for pupils to ask questions and discuss any concerns before their transition days and for staff to meet with their primary teachers. Pupils with identified SEND will receive additional visits from a SENDCO and will be offered the opportunity to visit University Academy Holbeach in addition to the usual transition events.
A transition evening on Wednesday 1st July 6.00-7.00pm)
We will invite all parents to join us to learn more about how best to support your child’s immediate transition to us, deal with details around uniform and our expectations of/for parents and children. Pupils will be able to visit the academy with a parent in order to hear important messages from the Principal and meet their form tutor.
Two days of transition on Thursday 9th & Friday 10th July
Pupils will come to visit the academy for two days during the summer term in order to begin to familiarise themselves with the site, key staff and those students in their tutor group. The day begins at 8.35am and will end at 3.30pm.
Parent Information Evening
Once the pupils have started to settle in to Year 7 we will be inviting all parents to attend an information evening. This is an excellent opportunity for parents to meet key staff in the year team and senior leadership team and ask any questions that you may have.
Tracking
Before the pupils start in September parents will be given log in details for Edulink One. This app allows you as a parent to monitor pupils behaviour points, praise points, attendance and homework. It also allows you to keep us informed of any absences and changes to pupils personal details. Edulink One is the main communication tool we use to share letters, tracking and reports and helps to keep open lines of communication between school and home to ensure pupils are fully supported to succeed.

Primary schools will be visited in the Summer term by a member of staff, including the Year Team and tutors. Support will also be provided by the Attendance Team.

If your child is currently in receipt of Free School Meals at Primary school, then you do not need to re-apply. Their application will transfer so you do not need to do anything.

We also offer our pupils water bottle filling stations which can be found around the Academy. If you wish to top up your child’s dinner money on their ParentPay account, you are also able to do so. Please remember, the Free School Meal allowance will not show on your child’s ParentPay account as a credit, but it will adjust our tills accordingly.

If you need to apply for Free School Meals, you can do so by clicking here.
