BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport

Who is this course for?

This course is for any prospective student that is looking to develop their interest in Sport and practical skills within the industry.

What will you learn?

This course offers students the opportunity to develop their skills, experience and knowledge working within the sports industry. Students can develop their knowledge of how to implement fitness, sport management, research within sport, and sports leadership. Students will be expected to be able to demonstrate skills which enables them to lead and managed sport leadership responsibilities to the public.

In addition to course content, students can also achieve extra qualifications from this course such as; Level 2 Sports Leaders Award and First Aid at work.

How long is this course?

All of our Level 3 BTEC courses are two years and are equivalent to 3 A-Levels upon completion.   

How will I be assessed for this course?

  • External Assessment: Unit 1 –
    • Exam – 1 hour 30 minutes – 80 marks
  • Unit 2 & 19 – Set Task – 2 hours 30 minutes – 60 marks
  • Unit 22—Set Task—3 hours—64 marks

Internal Assessment: (subject to external verification)

  • Written Reports
  • Case Studies
  • Projects
  • Displays, presentations and journals
  •  Demonstration of Practical & Technical Skills

You will be expected to work independently to research topics and to gain further knowledge and understanding of units.

What are the entry requirements for this course?

Students should gain a minimum of 5 GCSE's grades 4-9 including Maths and English to study this course. It is also desirable that students have gained a GCSE PE at grade 4 or above, or achieved a relevant Level 2 Sport qualification to pass level.

Students must be aged 16-19 to study this course.

What can I go on to do after this course?

From successful completion of this course, students can go on to study in Higher Education for any degree in Sport or Sport Science.
