A-Level AQA Law

Who is this course for?

This course is for any prospective student that is looking to theories and practice of Law within the UK. Students will explore how the British legal system functions in conjunction with current UK legislation.  

What will you learn?

In this subject pupils will understand how law impacts on society and the UK legislation system, and the theoretical underpinning that supports the legal system. Studying Law gives students an understanding of the role of Law in today's society and raises their awareness of the rights and responsibilities of individuals. By learning about legal rules and how and why they apply to real life, students also develop their analytical ability, decision making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. All these skills are highly sought after by higher education and employers.

How long is this course?

All of our A-Level courses are two-year courses. 

How will I be assessed for this course?

For this subject, students will be assessed through examinations which will take place at the end of the second year of study. In addition to formal examinations, throughout the academic year, students will also undertake mock exams, which will also help to assess subject knowledge and prepare for formal examinations.

Students will learn in a supportive classroom environment for their studies. Students will also be able to undertake independent study as part of this course as lead by their class teacher.

What are the entry requirements for this course?

It is desired that students have gained, or working towards, a qualification at grade 6 or above in this subject or relevant subject at GCSE level, but this is not essential. Additionally students should have 5 GCSE's grades 4-9 including Maths and English.

Students must be aged 16-19 to study this course.

What can I go on to do after this course?

From successful completion of this course, students can go on to study in Higher Education.

From this course students and progress onto higher education for suitable related courses in this subject area. Alternatively this course also supports knowledge and understanding in the relevant field of employment. A Level law provides excellent preparation for those students who wish to progress to degree level study or pursue a wide range of careers in the following fields: Business, Accountancy, Journalism, Law / Criminology, Teaching, Politics, Civil Service.
