Assistant SENDCO (Non-Teaching)

39 hours per week /42 weeks per year + training days

G6-15 to G6-18 (£27,803 to £30,296 pro rata)

Due to the expansion of the Academy an exciting opportunity has arisen for an energetic and committed individual to join our SEND team.

The successful candidate will be required to provide effective support to the Assistant Principal SENDCO, SENDCO and the wider school.

This will involve:

  • Being a point of contact and holding meetings with students and parents for specified pupils
  • Communicating with the SENDCOs, staff, external agencies and parents to ensure that there is effective partnership working and holistic approaches to the support of pupils with SEND
  • Having detailed knowledge of children with vulnerabilities and the SEND Code of Practice to enable taking Annual Review meetings
  • Developing positive working relationships with SEND pupils, understanding their needs to help develop support strategies, in conjunction with the SENDCOs
  • Supporting the transition of pupils with SEND from Primary to Secondary and between years
  • Providing one:one and small group interventions
  • Support the strategic work of the SENDCOs ensuring Pupil Files and Provision Map are updated regularly
  • Following the safeguarding policies and procedures in the Academy to ensure the safety and welfare of children and young people

The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills be friendly, hardworking,                           enthusiastic and committed to providing effective support to our busy SEND Team. It would be advantageous for the candidate to have experience of using AAO and working in a school environment. The candidate must have a minimum of 5 A* to C GCSEs, strong communication and IT skills and enjoy working with young people.

Hours of work will be 8.15am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
