Safeguarding Policies and Documents

The policies below explain the Academy procedures and practices that link with the Local Authority advice and Lincolnshire Safeguarding Children’s Board. The Designated Safeguarding Lead for the academy is Miss Edwina Hall and the Deputy Safeguarding Leads are Mrs Lucy Fravigar & Mrs Lynda Oddie. The Safeguarding governor is Mr Gary Chappell. The policy provides useful links to websites which can provide further helpful information. The attached documents, Keeping Children Safe in Education and Working Together to Safeguard Children have both been updated to reflect current advice and practices. All adults that work at University Academy Holbeach have a responsibility to read and understand all child protection and safeguarding policies and procedures for the Academy. They also have a responsibility to ensure they have read and are familiar with key documentation and guidance such as Keeping Children Safe In Education September 2022 alongside Working Together To Safeguard Children July 2018.

Information sharing is vital to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. A key factor identified in many serous case reviews (SCR's) has been a failure by practitioners to record information, to share it , to understand its significance and then take appropriate action. The DfE document below with others explains this.

Schools and academies have a duty to safeguard all children from radicalisation and extremism. This is referred to as Prevent, advice and guidance is attached below. The safeguarding team, Mental Health lead and pastoral teams work closely together to ensure the wellbeing of pupils and families is prioritised and the right support accessed.

If you would like to access any policies linked to safeguarding in a language other than English, please request this with the academy administration team, who will liaise with Miss Hall as Designated Safeguarding Lead to accommodate this request.
