Carpentry & Joinery Levels 1, 2 & 3

We offer CSkills Award levels 1, 2 & 3 Diploma in carpentry and joinery this is recognised throughout the construction industry. All the qualifications are assessed through Practical tests, in-course assessment and end of unit tests.

All our construction courses have English & Maths embedded into them in order to help you gain the relevant level needed to help support you within your career.

CSkills Award Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery

This course helps you to prepare to work safely and with confidence in the construction industry with a focus on Carpentry and Joinery construction skills. You will work to recognised industrial standards and will gain the underpinning knowledge and skills to prepare you for a career in the industry.

You will study and be assessed in the subjects below:

  • Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries
  • Knowledge of technical information, quantities and communication with others
  • Knowledge of construction technology
  • Produce woodworking joints
  • Maintain and use carpentry and joinery hand tools
  • Prepare and use carpentry and joinery portable power tools

CSkills Award Level 2 Diploma in Bench Joinery

This course develops your craft skills to work at recognised industrial standards within the trade. You will learn fundamental and transferable practical skills with associated underpinning knowledge. In addition, industry will accept the qualification on its own as entry to a job role.

At level 2 you will study and be assessed in the following subjects: 

  • Health, safety and welfare
  • Information, quantities and communication
  • Construction Technology
  • Prepare and use carpentry and joinery portable power tools
  • Set up and operate cutting and shaping machinery
  • Produce setting out details for routine joinery products
  • Mark out from setting out details for routine joinery products
  • Manufacture routine joinery products

CSkills Award Level 3 Diploma in Bench Joinery

You will gain skills to a very high level to carry out work in the Carpentry and Joinery industry. You will become confident in health & safety within the construction industry, stacking and storing materials and equipment, the construction industry, manufacture complex joinery products, set up and use fixed and transportable machinery.

At level 3 you will study and be assessed in the following subjects:

  • Health, safety and welfare
  • Technical information, quantities and communication
  • Construction industry and built environment
  • Set up and operate woodworking machinery to create curved work
  • Manufacture shaped joinery products
  • Set and mark out for shaped joinery products

The courses are for 16year olds and above who have a keen interest in carpentry and joinery and have some evidence of studying at GCSE grade D and above or working at Entry Level 3 literacy and numeracy. The natural progression would be to start at level 1 progressing onto level 2 then 3 within a chosen trade.

  • Level 1 – 5 A*-E
  • Level 2 – 5 A*-E
  • Level 3 – 5 A*-C including Maths, English and have already completed the Level 2 Technical qualification.
