Childcare Levels 1, 2 & 3
We offer a range of NCFE CACHE childcare qualifications which can prepare you to work with children and their families in a variety of settings and environments within the sector of children’s services.
The courses are designed so that most learners will spend time in a childcare setting gaining practical experience. This is also where their application of knowledge and skills will be assessed.
All candidates will need to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to assess their suitability for the course.
During these courses you will study a range of subjects including:
- Growth and development of young children, including nutrition.
- Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people.
- Health and safety when with young children.
- Understanding play for early learning.
- School readiness
- Theories of play, learning and development
- Professional development
All candidates will need to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to assess their suitability for the course and before they undertake any practical placements.
NCFE CACHE Level 1 Diploma in Caring for Children &
NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate Introducing caring for Children and Young People
Entry requirements- a minimum of 5 X 9-2 grades at GCSE
The programme is ideal for those who require some extra time and support before they can access a level 2 course. Learners will usually complete the two qualifications within 1 academic year. Both of these courses will enable learners to obtain an initial understanding of child development as well as the knowledge and skills required to meet the basic care and learning needs of babies and young children.
NCFE CACHE LEVEL 2 DIPLOMA FOR THE EARLY YEARS PRACTITIONER
Entry requirements – a minimum of 5 x 9-3 grades at GCSE
The aim of this qualification is to prepare learners to work with children between birth and five years, with knowledge of children up to seven years. Learners could also progress on to the CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (EYE). Students will undertake 250 placements hours in an early years setting. All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. This includes direct observation within the workplace, a portfolio of evidence and written assignments
NCFE CACHE TECHNICAL LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA IN CHILDCARE AND EDUCATION (EARLY YEARS EDUCATOR
Entry Requirements-all students must achieve a minimum of 5 x 9-4 grades including Maths and English
The Diploma is a 2 year programme which enables learners to gain the knowledge and experience which will allow them to work with children from birth to 5 years, with knowledge of children up to seven years. Upon achievement of the Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education it is intended that learners will be able to access higher education or enter the workforce as Early Years Educators. This programme includes both internal and external assessment. Students will need to undertake 750 hours placement in an early years setting. There is a maximum allocation of 168 UCAS points at A* for the Level 3 Diploma
Previous students have progressed onto early years apprenticeship programmes, gained employment in day nurseries, children’s centres and pre-school settings.
We have former students who have gone on to study Early Childhood Studies, Primary Education, Paediatric Nursing and Social Work at university.
