Royal Academy Inspires Art Students
On one of the hottest weeks of the year, and the day of the tube strike, our Academy artists travelled to London to view the prestigious Royal Academy Summer Exhibition of 2015. Pupils were taken from all year groups but mostly from Years 9 and 10 who are studying art at GCSE.
It was a long coach trip but pupils and staff we rewarded with a feast of colour and inspiration with the huge exhibition of over 1100 artworks from new and current artists. The trip also managed to take in a rare exhibition of work from Joseph Cornell, a New York based artist from the mid 20th Century.
Lunch was a sunny picnic in Green Park, by the side of The Ritz Hotel, and it was unanimously agreed that it was a wonderful day of culture and thanks to Mr Carter for organising the trip and Miss Keyes and Ms Reid for helping out.
