£312.00 Raised for the Holbeach Hospital

Darren Morris came to Holbeach Hospital on 28th March to present a cheque to Hospital staff and Trustees.  The funds were raised by the Year 12 and 13 students in the Joinery Workshop who made a variety of wooden items to sell.

Darren Morris (Construction Teacher) said, ‘the idea was that students got a chance to experience making joinery items for potential clients, whilst using the knowledge and skills gained in the three or so months since joining Sixth Form at UAH. Year 13 students helped the younger students having completed the same course a year before.  As a result of the sale £312.00 was raised for the Hospital.’

‘As a Department (Construction), decided to give the donation to Holbeach Hospital. This is due to the generosity of JT Ward and other joinery workshops who offered a large amount of their timber to help with students' learning.’

Darren presented the cheque to Hospital Trustees Tracey Carter, Jean Ruck and John Dalton, Deputy Manager Julia Scott and hospital staff.  Darren showed Trustees examples of the items made by students.  Tracey Carter was delighted to receive the cheque and see examples of the students’ work, ‘it was an honour for Darren to share the items that the young people made with us and we are forever grateful  for the funds raised and which will be well spent within the hospital supporting residents.’

Trustee John Dalton said, ‘it was nice to see local students are interacting with the Hospital and we thank them very much for the donation which will be put to good use.’
